Nehal Khurana - views about the Police

A chat with a 3rd standard student of G.D.Goenka School ,Delhi :-

Nehal Khurana - Our police force is excellent, they know everything.

They catch a thief. They catch terrorists. They run after robbers.

Sometimes they work in the day sometimes in the night.Even during floods they appear. We also see them at Traffic Signals.

They are there when cars breaks down or when there is an accident, they appear if there is a fire.

They know all the work. They are trained in every area. They are very good.

SECURITY REFORMS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY
Friends, this is a brief of our demands for security reforms. your signature on the same will make sure we get them. There are many more reforms mentioned in the reports specified below that takes care of every possible scenario that may hamper our security. Please agree with our demands and share the same with all you know. Thank you The below actions are being demanded after going into the need of the hour in a professional manner. Apart from implementing the below the citizens would like to make it very clear to the government and itÕs office bearers that this action plan will be monitored by a Citizens Monitoring and co-ordination committee consisting of prominent citizens and professionals that will be recognized by the Government to ensure that there is no scope for any delays in its implementation. Government to provide and put a plan into place with specified time lines to set up security devices/infrastructure/apparatus without citing budgetary constraints as its the prime duty of the state to provide security....e.g. CCTV network all over the city and other selected cities in the state. (When /if budgetary angle crops up as an actual block then government should seek public-private partnership concept for funding) Roadmap with specific time frame mentioned, for setting up a full- fledged, specialized and fully equipped security force of commandos on the lines of the NSG. Immediate and time-bound implementation of all the recommendations of Project Sudharana (Mc Kensy report), National Police Commission report and the administrative reforms committee report. Allocate a budget and create a training module within 30 days on civil defense and disaster-training programs to be conducted in all schools/colleges offices and for all citizens. This should also be done using multimedia platforms. Increase the monetary sanctioning powers of the Director General Of Police and the Commissioner of Police so that there are no delays in procuring any equipment or services that may be required by the police department. This will effectively cut the red tape currently existing and reduce the undue delay caused by existing guidelines on procurement. Create a full-fledged and fully equipped operational marine police unit for Mumbai and surrounding areas like Navi Mumbai & Thane. Announce and implement tough anti-terror laws to deter terrorists. Clear directive to evolve within a time-frame, professional guidelines for providing non-category security to individuals. i.e. security should be provided strictly on need basis only and not on status of individual. Conduct regular joint operations/mock drills with police/army/navy/coast guards/fire brigade and health services to ensure better co-ordination amongst all agencies in time of emergency. Provide complete operational freedom to the unit commander i.e. DGP/CP to discharge their duties in a professional manner without any interference or pressure from political parties. Expedite immediately in a time-bound framework the pending proposals submitted by the police department to the Home department. Formulate and implement media regulatory framework. Formulate and implement a national ID cards program.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

The Black Badge for Bombay

Team:
A quick despatch.I have received a lot of feedback about how some could perceive this effort as a Bombay affair. THIS IS NOT. Let me hasten to point out that the users of the VT station, the Taj and Oberoi have as many people who do not live in Bombay as may be from Bombay. It is primarily guests from outside Bombay that use hotels. The train terminus also houses the outstation terminus and there is always significant traffic of people from outside Bombay.Making Bombay safe does not mean making Bombay safe for Mumbaikars alone. Making Bombay safe means making it safe for its several thousand visitors from within and without India. Ours is a multi-cultural, multi-racial and multi-ethnic city. Making Bombay safe by pushing for a multi-disciplinary rescue force situated in Bombay to combat terror strikes and natural calamities involves making Bombay safe for our visitors, our guests, who we pride in attracting here. Therefore, it is my earnest appeal that this movement is not just a movement for Mumbaikars. This is a national movement. This group, for example has a significant expat population. It also has a representation from New Delhi, for example - people who visit our beloved city from time to time and wish to have a safe time here. Please remember, a safe Bombay means safety in commerce, finance, entertainment and various services that this city provides to our beloved nation. When we push for a safe Bombay, we are pushing for safety to an integral feature in the concept of India as a nation state.
Warm regards,
Som

is wearing the Black Badge. Will wear it until Mumbai ACTUALLY gets a multi-disciplinary rescue force to deal with terror strikes and calamities.

let's look at a SOLUTION

Protest Gathering - I want my Mumbai back!
Today's messageWell the organisers of all these groups are working together and have a common agenda. I can assure you of that... Be there tomorrow and you shall see! Having said that, the fact is still that this is an open gathering and we cannot stop people / groups from voicing their opinions as well...It is indeed a shame to see how people are callous and uninterested, unmoved by what's happening... I know it's disheartening and makes us angry... but you know what, not the whole of India fought for Independance either. It was those few who fought that made the difference! so let people ignore us, let people stay in a state of complacency, let people laugh at us, let people be sarcastic, let people be scared, ignorant... whatever... it will not make a difference to us... because we are united in thought and will be united in action...we will keep moving and we will make that difference! Let's rise above such inconsequential remarks!
- A Passionate Indian
My only request is - let's look at a SOLUTION.
Let's channelise our anger in the right direction.

Our Security Forces

We all know that we are a corrupt nation, most of us have got used to it, and I have been through my own battle of acceptance regarding the same. Offering a bribe was a complete nightmare for me, most turned around and said Get Real. Live in the present. You can’t fight the system.
What brings about corruption? How do we remove it? As a common man are we capable of doing something? What action can we take? How long will it take us to remove it from our day to day lives, or is it impossible?
Most of us do not want to vote? Many just want to leave the country. Many are numb, horrified, disgusted, sad, angry etc.
Should we continue leaving it to nature to create the balance, or is it finally the time to take charge, to be proactive. What is nature? Isn’t it us?
Is filing PIL an answer? Is shouting slogans the answer? Lighting a candle? Cursing the politicians?
So what should we do? We are a huge population, numbers wise too many, is that good or bad? Though does it matter, until and unless we can ensure no such attack ever happens? How are we going to increase security?
Each time the guard @ the gate of a 5 star hotel stops us to check our vehicle we get impatient.
The same is the case @ cinema halls & hotels etc, when they ask for our hand bag. We do not feel very cooperative when we are stopped and checked.
Isn’t it time to change our attitude? Shouldn’t we be saying thanks to them?
How much are we really living? What are we sharing with our children?
How many of us truly respect the police force? As kids I heard words like Doctor Uncle…Doctor Saab…Doctorji. When a postman dropped by I have heard people offering him water and saying poor thing he has to go door to door…etc etc.
What about the police man/woman… Are they important to us?
Have we ever questioned ourselves… our views about the police?
What do we know about them? What is the level of awareness in all of us?
How does it work? Do we teach about the organization structure of the security forces as part of our education? Can I get an organization chart for our Police?
Who is responsible for the decision making if terrorist attack, who gives the orders? How do the orders get relayed? I have lots of questions, and I want action taken for all of my questions and your questions…Questions which ensure a safer tomorrow…Actions which ensures security for all of us at all times.
